New MCERT Students

Summer classes will end on August 7 and teaching internships will begin on Monday August 18 or Tuesday August 19 (depending on the district calendar)

 

 

Deadlines

Priority Deadline

Early applications will be reviewed as of December 1, 2008.

Final Deadline

Final deadline for applications including all supporting documents is
March 1, 2009.

In just one year, you can earn a master’s degree and become certified to teach in elementary or secondary schools. 

 

Take advantage of the University of Maryland, College of Education’s Masters Certification (MCERT) program and expand your potential!

 

 

 

Our Program:

The program is organized around four core themes:

 

  • Inquiry and reflection
  • Teaching for understanding
  • Teaching for diversity
  • Building democratic learning communities

Our intensive, one-year program features:

 

  • Selected paid internships for secondary education program
  • In-state tuition rates for non-residents
  • Integration of coursework and field experiences
  • Teaching placements in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County and Howard County
