Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the M.Ed. Program in TESOL without certification, applicants must meet the following Graduate School requirements:
A fully completed B. S. or B. A. in any relevant subject area with a Grade Point Average of 3.0 (B) or higher.
Three letters of recommendation, preferably from former professors who can assess the applicant’s academic potential. Letters must be accompanied by the recommendation form and the summary evaluation form, which are part of the application packet
A Statement of Goals, which should describe how the applicant’s academic career objectives and experiences fit with the intended program of study.

International Student Applications
There are admission requirements for TOEFL Internet-based Testing (IBT). Each international applicant must provide an official statement regarding financial support. This statement ensures that the applicant has sufficient financial resources to meet educational and living expenses.
Note: The International Educational Services Office (IES) will review the academic and financial records of ALL international applicants before the Department will review the application. Degree Requirements
The SLEC specialty is recommended for students who wish to develop expertise in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) both in the U.S. and internationally. The Masters degree prepares students to engage with research, theory and pedagogical practice in the field of TESOL. This degree does not lead to certification to teach in public schools in the US. All M.Ed. students must complete 30 credit hours total.
All M.Ed. students must complete 30 credit hours total (see chart with course work below). In addition to this coursework MEd only students need to:
1. Pass comprehensive exams (during the final semester)
2. Complete a seminar paper (during the final semester)
