An Investigation of Child Behavior, Aggression, and Emotion in Clinically Referred Boys
This study assesses 8-12-year-old boys clinically referred for conduct problems in a cross-sectional design. The study examines emotional, behavioral, and psychophysiological characteristics, and implements emotion eliciting film clips, potentiated startle, and computer tasks designed to assess reward dominance and aggression. Over the course of the assessment, EEG and heart rate are recorded. Mothers complete questionnaires about their child's emotions, and behavior, and are interviewed about their sons using a psychiatric diagnostic interview (DISC-IV). The study is being conducted in conjunction with Dr. Mark Stein at Children's Hospital, D.C.
This study is supported by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Program Project F31 MH12568-01.
