MASTER OF ARTS PROGRAM

The design of this program provides balanced intermediate level graduate training in quantitative methods for students preparing for a variety of positions in government, educational institutions, and private industry. The program requires a minimum of 30 credit hours in courses acceptable for credit toward a graduate degree. At least 18 must be selected from courses numbered 600 or above, combining content from statistics, measurement, evaluation, and related fields outside of the Department (a maximum of 6 outside hours). There is a common core of required courses comprising EDMS 610, 645, 646, 623 and 651. A written comprehensive examination based on the core courses is required. The Graduate School allows transfer of up to six credits of appropriate, prior graduate work. Both thesis and non-thesis options are available in the Master of Arts program. All coursework applied toward completion of the degree must be completed in a five year period. The Department does not offer the Master of Education degree.
