Admissions

To be considered for admission to the Department of Education Policy and Leadership at the University of Maryland each applicant must submit an application and supplemental materials directly to the Graduate School (see Application Materials). When all components of an application have been received, the application is considered complete. Only complete applications are reviewed by the Department. For best consideration, begin the application process well before the stated deadlines.

The University strongly encourages all applicants to the Graduate School to apply online.

All your application materials must have the correct Major/Program and Program Code as follows:

For the M.A. and M.Ed.: Select Education Leadership and Policy Studies - EDLP. The Program Code is EDLP.

For Ph.D. only: Select Education Policy - EDPO. The Program Code is EDPO.

NOTE: The Ed.D. with superintendent certification is only admitting new students in pre-arranged cohort groups. The general Ed.D. is currently being revised and will not be admitting new students until further notice.

Programs of Study in EDPL

It is to the student's advantage to apply well before the published deadline, if the applicant intends to be considered for a fellowship, assistantship, or other form of financial aid.

Different areas of specialization within the department have different application deadlines. All applications must indicate an area of specialization. On your application, enter the Area of Specialization under your Educational Intent (degree sought). Refer to the chart below before you begin.
