Specialty Area: Severe Disabilities

Current Interests:

Dr. Kohl, Associate Professor, joined the University of Maryland at College Park in 1979 and was responsible for developing an undergraduate and graduate program in the Severe Disabilities concentration area. She teaches courses on the instruction for students with severe disabilities, as well as courses on research methodology. She has directed many federally funded personnel preparation grants in the area of severe disabilities and model demonstration grants designed to develop and implement programs which include children with severe disabilities into age appropriate classes and community settings at the elementary age level. She is also the University Director of the Federal and State Program, Connections Beyond Sight and Sound. Dr. Kohl is the chair of the department's Graduate Committee on Policies and Procedures and in the department's NCATE representative.
