Praxis I Information for
Applicants Interested in Teacher Certification & MEd Programs in Special Education

UM Code 5814

To be admitted to the Combined BS/MEd or MEd only programs in special education, you must pass the Praxis I examination at or above State of Maryland cut-off scores prior to admission into the department. The Praxis I examination includes reading, writing, and mathematics subtests. More information is available at the Praxis Series.

1Applicants may meet testing requirement in one of two ways: (a) submitting individual scores at or above the state qualifying scores on Praxis I: Reading, Writing, and Math or (b) submitting a composite score that is at or above the state qualifying composite score for the PPST and CPPST of 527.
If you have not yet taken Praxis I, at the time of the examination please have your score sent directly to the University of Maryland (our campus reporting code is 5814). If you have already taken and passed Praxis I at or above State of Maryland cut-off scores, and you have an official copy, you may bring the official copy to Student Services, Graduate Programs, Room 1204 Benjamin Bldg., University of Maryland and it will be copied by a representative from that office. You cannot mail a copy of your results. Official results must be sent directly to the University of Maryland from ETS or brought in person to be copied by a representative of the College of Education.
