Goals and Objectives Since 1987 the Office of School/University Cooperative
Programs has worked to initiate, implement, and facilitate campus-wide
school/university partnerships:
- enhance communication and dissemination of information
between the institution and the schools;
- assist in establishing linkages between school
and university faculty to develop partnership programs and collaborative
proposal writing;
- facilitate the broad involvement of UMCP's colleges
and support services in collaborative initiatives with the schools;
- provide ongoing support for campus-school partnership
activities;
- develop and share information about innovative
school/university partnerships;
- disseminate information regarding grants and funding
sources for school/university partnerships.
Working with all of the University's academic colleges
and support services, our office, in collaboration with K-12 schools,
endeavors to:
- stimulate important research projects for both
school/university faculty, and provide experiential learning opportunities
for university students;
- provide programs to ensure that future university
students have the academic skills and knowledge to be successful;
- increase professional development opportunities
for K-12 administrators and faculty;
- provide intervention programs for at-risk students;
- facilitate advanced courses for high school students;
- facilitate university-student mentoring and tutoring
with K-12 students; and
- provide opportunities to enhance curricula with
emphasis upon the teaching and learning of all academic disciplines.
