NSF Funded Reading Experiment
The National Science Foundation awarded $3.4M to Professors John Guthrie and Allan Wigfield of Human Development along with co-investigators for increasing reading comprehension, motivation, and science knowledge through concept-oriented reading instruction (CORI) in a district wide experiment.
The project will be implemented in Frederick County MD.
Note that CORI has been shown to be effective in increasing minority achievement.
