Maryland Institute for Minority Achievement and Urban Education
The purpose is to improve minority achievement through research and application of research-based methods to instruction.
The Institute involves a partnership with the Maryland State Department of Education and has initial focus in Prince George’s County Public Schools and Baltimore City School System, which are both majority minority districts of over 100,000 children each.
The Institute’s kickoff conference is sponsored by Lockheed Martin Corporation and planned jointly with the Maryland State Department of Education and the Maryland Higher Education Corporation.
An initial project is supported by Giant Food and other corporations.
