Department of Special Education (EDSP)
Dr. Peter Leone (Professor, Behavior Disorders) gave a presentation at the Carl V. Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, Germany in September, 2008: From Incapacitation to Rehabilitation: Alternative Responses to Delinquent and Disordered Behavior in the United States. Dr. Leone met with a number of the faculty in special education at the university to discuss mutual research interests. He also visited three prisons and a day/residential treatment center for children with emotional and behavioral problems.
Dr. Margaret McLaughlin (Interim Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education and Professor, Policy Studies in Special Education) is developing a chapter on inclusive education for children with disabilities for a joint publication of the World Bank and World Health Organization with a doctoral student in Special Education as well as colleagues at the World Bank, OECD, and the United Kingdom. Dr. McLaughlin also recently returned from teaching in Germany in the Special Education’s overseas graduate program.
