Impact of NCLB on Policy r. Immigrant and Minority Children in K-12 Education

The achievement of U.S. born and non-U.S. born minority children in American schools remains an issue that demands serious attention. Immigrant children also present challenges beyond the training and resources of most teachers. For this session, CoE Visiting Asst. Professor Millicent Kushner and Clemencia Cosentino de Cohen, Acting Dir., The Urban Institute, will explore the impact the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation has had on policy related immigrant and minority children in K-12. Kennedy Memorial Lecture, The Comedy of the Generation Gap (What Do Menander and Mike Nichols Have in Common?), presented by Professor of Classics Lillian Doherty. Dr. Kennedy was a founding member of OLLI and an adjunct professor at the College of Education for a many years.
