First Annual Alumni College Event, “Return to Learn”
to be offered May 19, at College of Education

COLLEGE PARK, MD (March 2007) – Professional development, personal discovery, and new experiences await those who attend the Alumni College on Saturday, May 19, sponsored by the College of Education and its Alumni Chapter. 'Return to Learn' is the theme for the day-long event which will feature presentations by top faculty, outstanding teachers, and education policy experts.

"'Return to Learn' is a terrific way for our alumni and friends to participate in stimulating discussions on topics that are timely and important," said Toni Ungaretti, Alumni Chapter president. "An outstanding program will be offered—the most difficult part of the day will be choosing which sessions to attend."

Alumni College opens at 8:30 a.m. University of Maryland Hall of Fame alumnus, Len Elmore, will offer the keynote address. Throughout the morning, faculty, alumni, and guest presenters will cover a wide variety of topics in multiple sessions. Guest luncheon speaker is popular College of Education associate professor emeritus, John Splaine. Morning refreshments, lunch, and a motor coach tour of campus in the afternoon will also be provided (see detailed schedule below).

Tuition is $25 for University of Maryland Alumni Association members and $30 for College of Education alumni, faculty, staff, students, and guests. The deadline to enroll is May 10, 2007.

All classes and activities will be held in the Benjamin Building, home of the College of Education. Parking is available on any surface lot near the college. The Benjamin Building is handicapped accessible.
