Bridget Mullan is a Project Manager at the Center for Early Childhood Education and Intervention (CECEI). She is currently facilitating the development of a state-wide preschool curriculum for the Maryland State Department of Education. Bridget has worked for the University of Maryland in multiple capacities, including: Lab Manager for the Language Development and Parenting Lab, Research Assistant at the Center for Advanced Study of Language, and Second Language Acquisition Specialist for the National Foreign Language Center. Her research interests are early language learning and teaching, children’s first and second language learning, language instruction at the preschool and early elementary levels, and language assessment.
Bridget holds an M.Phil. in English and Applied Linguistics from the University of Cambridge, which she completed in 2008. She also received a B.A. from Wittenberg University in 2003, graduating with honors and a double major in Early Childhood Education and German. Bridget's work experiences outside of UMD include teaching English in Germany (Fulbright grant), teaching early elementary grades at a German immersion school in Minnesota, and developing test items for the nationwide ACCESS 2.0 English language assessment.
