Prospective Graduate Students:

If you are interested in applying to work with Dr. Cabrera in the Human Development graduate program, please email Dr. Cabrera, ncabrera@umd.edu. Our graduate program has a mentorship model, and graduate students study as apprentices with specific faculty members. Therefore, it's important to contact faculty members directly about a match of interests between the applicant and the potential faculty mentor. Dr. Cabrera is in the Developmental Science area of specialization in the graduate program. She currently is mentoring graduate students with a variety of research interests including but not limited to: low-income and minority children, family structure, early childhood development, immigrant families, fathering, and school readiness. Dr. Cabrera will be accepting applications for students for Fall 2022!

Prospective Undergraduate Students:

Undergraduate Research Assistants have a very important role in our research. They are needed to assist in many aspects of data collection and analysis. Undergraduates are exposed to research methodology, as well as the logistics of running a study. They become familiar with the administration of a protocol and become accustomed to a research setting.  If you are interested in working for research credit or volunteering in the Family Involvement Laboratory, please email ghoshra@umd.edu your resume/CV and an unofficial transcript, and a graduate student will set up an interview with you regarding your interests and to explain our projects. Students can receive independent credit by taking 3 credits of EDHD 498. Permission of the Instructor is required.
