The Center works to support and expand the College of Education’s (COE) Leadership Preparation programs and significantly increase the knowledge and support of these programs within the COE and surrounding school districts, which includes institutionalizing the EdD doctoral program and reinstituting an innovative and responsive Admin I certificate program.
The Center is actively engaged in all aspects of the EdD cohort program, including co-teaching the seminar on School District Leadership, advising doctoral candidates, serving on dissertation committees, and contributing to candidate selection and admissions.
The School Improvement Leadership Certificate is designed for teacher leaders to deepen their understanding of the complexities of large, diverse public education systems and the levers needed for sustained change. It introduces Improvement Science as a methodology for using disciplined inquiry to implement and test change ideas that respond to these challenging problems. For eligible candidates, this certificate program can lead into the Admin I Certificate for school principal certification in the state of Maryland.
Improvement Science Trainings and Workshops
The Center provides trainings and workshops to engage interested policy leaders and practitioners in the tenants and tools of improvement science as a problem-centered approach to improve teaching and learning.
