Funding & Scholarships
General COE Scholarship Application
Through the generosity of alumni and friends, the College of Education (COE) offers merit-based scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in our academic programs.
Each COE student applicant must provide the following for scholarship consideration:
- Completed scholarship application
- Letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or faculty member submitted to educ-scholarships@umd.edu
- Letter must be in PDF format with the applicant's name appearing in the subject line (ex. Doe, Jane Marie_LOR_LastNameOfRecommendor).
- Letters should include the following applicant criteria:
- Academic performance
- Financial need
- Leadership and contributions to the field of Education
- Commitment to promoting a diverse multicultural community

Incomplete scholarship applications will not be reviewed.
If selected, scholarship recipients must:
- Accept scholarship by submitting an online submission form.
- Write a thank you letter to scholarship donor.
