Dr. Hedwig Teglasi
Professor, School Psychology

Dr. Hedwig Teglasi is a professor at the University of Maryland and Director of the School Psychology Program. Hedy is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, the American Academy of School Psychology, and the Society for Personality Assessment. She has served on editorial boards of leading journals and has published numerous journal articles, book chapters, and books on topics encompassing temperament, personality assessment, and mental health. When she is not working or spending time with (or cooking for) family, she looks forward to practicing yoga and spending time outdoors.
Bio
Laura Kelly

Laura Kelly is a first year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. Her research interests include resilience building in adolescents and factors that mediate the effects of trauma and stress-related disorders. She received her Bachelor's degree at the University of Pittsburgh where she double-majored in Psychology and Writing and completed a certificate in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies. When she’s not studying temperament and emotion regulation, she enjoys hiking, visiting museums, and traveling to new places.
Ilcia Hernandez

Ilcia Hernandez is a second year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. Her research interests include temperamental anger and the use of children’s books as a tool for promoting coping skills. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland. When she’s not studying temperament and emotion regulation, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, and spending time in nature.
Carrie McMahon

Carrie McMahon is a second year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. Her research interests focus on children's temperamental susceptibility to adverse childhood experiences, especially related to parenting. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Penn State University. When she’s not studying temperament and emotion regulation, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and trying new things.
Hailey Fleece

Hailey is a third year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. Her research interests include early childhood behavioral inhibition and parent-child relationships. She received her bachelor's degree in Psychology and her Master's degree in Human Development from the University of Maryland. When she's not studying temperament and emotion regulation, Hailey enjoys practicing yoga and hiking.
Gillian Zheng

Gillian is a third year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. Her research interests include early childhood adaptation, the importance of raising excellent pre-school teachers, and how to lower pre-service as well as in-service teachers’ burn-out rate. She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Human Resource Management at Rutgers-The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick. When she's not studying temperament and emotion regulation, Gillian enjoys cooking and cleaning for loved ones, watching cartoons, and taking care of herself by helping people.
Mary Sarro Glantz

Mary is a fifth year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. Her research interests include studying how personal factors impact academic performance in students with disability in higher education. She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from The Catholic University of America and her Master's in Professional Studies in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland. When she's not studying temperament and emotion regulation, Mary enjoys cooking for family and friends, traveling, and playing board games.
Alex Travis

Alex is a fifth year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. Her research interests focus on teacher stress and improving early teacher retention. She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. When she's not studying temperament and emotion regulation, Alex enjoys reading, writing, and singing along to the Hamilton soundtrack.
Samantha Sommer

Sam is a fifth year doctoral student in the School Psychology program. Her research interests include clinician and student factors that affect treatment success both inside and outside of educational settings. She is particularly interested in the development of therapeutic alliances between clinicians and students and how this alliance changes over time. Sam received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University. When she's not studying temperament and emotion regulation, she enjoys horseback riding and going for walks with her dog, Fiona.
