ETS IT Technician receives the 2014 COE Outstanding Exempt Service Award

Ron Yerby receive award

COLLEGE PARK, MD (May, 2014)  Ron Yerby, the Educational Technology Services (ETS) desktop IT support technician, received the College of Education's Outstanding Exempt Staff Service Award at the Eleventh Annual College Awards Ceremony on May 9th. The award criteria were:

  • Exceptional performance in nominee’s position.
  • Exceptional inter- and intra-personal characteristics that shape the nominee’s performance (e.g., initiative-taking, integrity, positive attitude).
  • Positive rapport and team work capability with other staff and faculty within the COE and University.
  • Evidence of dedication to the mission of the COE.

The emcee quoted many of the numerous letters of support, and ETS is pleased to see another one of its own honored. Four ETS staff members have received an outstanding College staff service award since 2006, including one last year.

“Ron provides a remarkable service to the College of Education community with his vast technical knowledge and positive attitude,” said Joe Robertson, the desk manager and Ron’s direct supervisor, award recipient for 2013.

Steve Pragel, director of ETS, added, "Ron’s recognition stands on its own right, and to have it be the second ETS staff member in a row is significant considering the large pool of high quality talent in the College-at-large. It is nice to know that Ron’s hard work and personable qualities are recognized by COE faculty and staff, even as much of that work is done behind the scenes."
