New Mac OS Released

UPDATE: As of 5/2/16, Mac OS X 10.8 is no longer supported by DIT.  This also means that ETS can no longer address issues in that operating system except to upgrade it to a supported OS.

COLLEGE PARK, MD (November, 2015) – OS X El Capitan v10.11 is the most current version of Apple’s popular operating system and was released to the public on October 21, 2015. It includes many features to improve performance, stability and security. Now with the annual development and release schedule of OS X, earlier editions will cease to receive vital security updates. As of this writing, Apple has unofficially retired OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.

To find out which edition and version your Mac is running, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu. The version of OS X appears directly below “OS X”.

We strongly encourage to have your Mac running a supported operating system to help protect against any vulnerabilities. ETS can assist in order to determine whether your departmental-owned Mac computer meets Apple’s requirements. Please contact your Department Technical Contact (DTC) to arrange an evaluation.
