Program Overview

This program is suited to those wanting to advance their understanding of research in mathematics and science education. You will take core and specialization courses in education, along with electives to advance your academic and professional interests. The program concludes with a capstone course for your final paper or thesis.

You can elect to specialize in mathematics or science education. A thesis option is available for both specializations.

To accommodate working students, our courses meet once per week, in the late afternoon/early evening.

Program Requirements

The program is carefully crafted to give you a strong foundation and provide flexibility for your interests and goals, and consists of:

  • A core introduction to education research
  • A research methods course
  • Four specialization courses in mathematics and/or science education
  • Elective courses chosen to advance your academic and professional interests.
  • Capstone course in which students receive advising and support while writing their capstone paper or their thesis.

Students typically specialize in either mathematics or science education.
