COLLEGE PARK, MD (March 2011) Dr. Gregory R. Hancock, Department of Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation Chair was selected by the American Psychological Association (APA) Division 5 Awards Committee to receive the 2011 Jacob Cohen Award for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching and Mentoring.
The yearly award is presented to honor an individual who has demonstrated excellence in teaching/mentoring in the Division-5-related areas. APA Division 5; Evaluation, Measurement, and Statistics promotes high standards in both research and practical application of psychological assessment, evaluation, measurement, and statistics.
"His colleagues and students strongly supported his nomination, describing him as having outstanding skills as a teacher and mentor and contributing enormously to their training and to that of others in the Division-5-related areas," said Thanos Patelis, Division 5 Awards Committee Chair.
Dr. Hancock will receive his award and make a presentation during the 2011 APA Convention held in Washington, D.C. from August 4-7, 2011. He will also receive an honorary one-year membership to Division 5.
