COLLEGE PARK, MD (April, 2015) The Center for Young Children (CYC) is embarking on a Launch UMD campaign to crowdsource funds for a new playground!
Wanting to get the centers students 110 children, ages 3 to 6 outdoors more often, CYC Director Fran Favretto is working with Steven Cohan, who coordinates UMDs Landscape Management Program, and structural engineering professor Powell Draper to expand and recreate their twenty-year-old playground.
The best part of the project is that the kids at the CYC contributed ideas! Theyre not getting their hoped-for rocket ship, but a kid-sized zipline is a close second.
The crowdfunding campaign kicks off on Tuesday, April 7, via Launch UMD. The key to the campaigns success will be spreading the word, quickly, to as many people as possible. The College of Education encourages all its friends and benefactors long-time donors, faculty and staff, recent graduates, and even current students to get involved, starting April 7:
- Visit the College of Education’s Facebook and Twitter pages, “like” and share the information to social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram). Use the hashtag #ComeAliveOutsideUMD.
- If you receive an email from the College about the campaign, forward it to some friends you think would be interested or better yet, write your own email encouraging them to support the campaign.
- Make a gift to the project between April 7 and May 6, when the campaign ends.
