Department of Counseling and Personnel Services maintains its record as number one in the nation
COLLEGE PARK, MD (April 2010) = For the 11th consecutive year, the College of Education has maintained its ranking as one of the top schools of education in the country. The College was rated no. 25, according to the U.S.News & World Report survey released on April 15, 2010. In addition, all of its ranked programs and departments list in the Top 25 of their categories, with the Counseling and Personnel Services department continuing its record as number one in the country for eleven years in a row now.
"We are proud to count ourselves as one of the best colleges of education in the nation," said Dean Donna Wiseman. "Our rankings are evidence of the strength and dedication of our faculty and staff, the achievements of our students, and the high regard of our peers."
The following college departments and programs are ranked among the Top 25 in the nation:
- Counseling and Personnel Services department (1st)
- Educational Psychology (6th)
- Rehabilitation Counseling program (9thlast ranked in 2007 in the Health category)
- Higher Education Administration (10th)
- Special Education department (11th)
- Educational Policy (13th)
- Elementary Education (14th - tied with UCLA and U Texas/Austin)
- Administration/Supervision (16th - tied with U of Virginia)
- Curriculum and Instruction department (19th - tied with U of Iowa)
- Secondary Education (22nd)
The 2011 rankings are released in 2010 as part of U.S. News magazine's annual guide of 'America's Best Graduate Schools', currently available at bookstores. U.S. News also distributes the results of its rankings and explains the survey methodology on its web site: www.usnews.com.
