COLLEGE PARK, MD (April, 2012) The College of Education Graduate Student Organization (GSO) is Calling for Student Nominations for officers to the GSO Executive Board, College of Education Assembly (CEA) members, and College of Education Committee Representatives for the 2012–2013 academic year. Positions/terms will begin May 1, 2012.
Nominations will be accepted through April 12. Please send the following nomination information: name,

Voting for members/representatives will begin April 19 and conclude April 27 at noon.
A Graduate Student Assembly will be held on April 26, 2012 in room 0212 from 3:15pm-4:00pm.
All voting will take place through Survey Monkey.
GSO EXECUTIVE BOARD
Voting Eligibility
Graduate students are deemed members of the CoE GSO by virtue of their enrollment in a program within the College of Education at the University of Maryland, College Park. To be considered for an officer position, you must be a student within COE, be continuously registered and enrolled throughout your term, and be in good standing.
- President. Shall preside over all meetings of the CoE GSO. The President will maintain the power to appoint all committee chairpersons; shall present all motions to the body present and shall be present at 90% of the meetings of the CoE GSO.
- President–elect. Will preside at all meetings of the CoE GSO. The President will maintain the power to appoint all committee chairpersons, shall present all motions to the body present and shall be present at 90% of the meetings of the CoE GSO. Prior to assuming the year–long role of President, this officer shall serve a semester–long term as President–elect.
- Vice President. Shall serve a year–long term. The Vice President’s duties shall be to preside at all meetings and functions that the President cannot attend.
- Secretary–Treasurer. Shall serve a year–long term. The Secretary–Treasurer will handle all dues, accounts, new members, rule observances at stated meetings, protocol, minutes, etc.
- Two representatives each from all three departments in the College of Education will join the President, President–elect, Vice President, and Secretary–Treasurer.
COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ASSEMBLY (CEA) MEMBER
Voting Eligibility
Three graduate students will be elected from each of the three departments to be voting members of the CEA. To be considered for a voting position on the CoE Assembly, you must be a student within COE, be continuously registered and enrolled at least 50% of full–time throughout your term, and be in good standing. The CEA meets three times a year.
COLLEGE OF EDUCATION COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVES
Voting Eligibility
Four graduate students will be elected to serve as a graduate student representative on each of the following committees required by the College of Education:
CoE Senate – 1 Master’s and 1 Doctoral student (to be identified by the voting members of the CEA by May 1st)
Initial Teacher Certification Committee – 1 Master’s (prefer MEd cert student)
Graduate Education Committee – 1 doctoral student
To be considered for a committee representative, you must be a student within COE, be continuously registered and enrolled throughout your term, and be in good standing. The committees each meet once a month.
