COLLEGE PARK, MD (April, 2012) Dr. Susan R. Komives, professor in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education, was honored with the ACPA–College Student Educators International’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her service and academic contributions to the college student affairs profession.
ACPA, headquartered in Washington, D.C. at the National Center for Higher Education, is the leading comprehensive student affairs association that advances student affairs and engages students for a lifetime of learning and discovery.
Dr. Komives is past president of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) and a former President of ACPA–College Student Educators International. She is the 2011 recipient of the University of Maryland Board of Regent’s Award for Faculty Teaching and the NASPA Shaffer Award for Academic Excellence as a Graduate Faculty Member. Dr. Komives is a also the recipient of both the ACPA and NASPA outstanding research and scholarship awards in 2006.
