COLLEGE PARK, MD (May, 2014) The Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Special Education received the Outstanding Instructional Unit Award earlier this month at the university's Ethnic Minority Achievement Awards ceremony.
The Presidents Commission on Ethnic Minority Issues established the Minority Achievement Awards to commend faculty, staff, students, departments, and other campus entities that have made outstanding contributions to UMDs equity efforts. The awards recognize those who have worked to improve the racial climate on the College Park Campus and to realize the universitys goal of creating an institution of excellence through diversity. Among other criteria, the Outstanding Instructional Unit Award recognizes the inclusion of ethnic minority content in a program of instruction.
