Public Radio International: One Day, There Won’t Be Any More Holocaust Survivors. This Museum is Racing to Preserve Their Stories

Margaret Peterson

The Public Radio International (PRI) article “One Day, There Won’t Be Any More Holocaust Survivors. This Museum is Racing to Preserve Their Stories” explores the work of The Memory Project, a writing workshop for Holocaust survivors at The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Dr. Margaret Polizos Peterson, a College of Education professor, facilitates the workshop, helping the survivors to write down their stories.

“The work that we’ve done is to try to expand on the stories, because otherwise it’s very much just a timeline,” Dr. Peterson said to PRI.

Dr. Peterson is a professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership. She is the Co-Director of the University of Maryland Writing Project, creating and delivering grant supported professional development for teachers in writing instruction, creating classroom writing communities and teaching in the writing workshop.
