Jing Liu, Ph.D., assistant professor in Education Policy at the University of Maryland, with colleagues from Harvard and Stanford, won the Learning Engineering Tools Competition for their machine learning tool that uses natural language processing to analyze audio recordings from math classrooms and generate feedback for teachers. 

“The innovative integration of machine learning and educational theory and practices creates multiple promising avenues to change the future of teaching and learning,” said Liu.
