COE Faculty Named Chair of Presidents Commission on LGBT Issues

COLLEGE PARK, MD (October, 2012) –Dr. Noah Drezner, Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education, has been appointed chair of the University of Maryland's President's Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues (PCLGBTI). The LGBT Commission is comprised of faculty, staff and students from across the UMD campus and is responsible for advising the President and other campus administrators on issues of concern to members of the LGBT community. The Commission recommends policies and programs to ensure that the campus is sensitive to the needs of its many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members.

Dr. Drezner joined the UMD faculty in 2008. He also holds affiliate appointments in the International Education Policy specialization; the Consortium on Race, Gender, and Ethnicity; the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Studies program; and the Center on Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership in the School of Public Policy. In 2011, Dr. Drezner was named one of 13 university professors to the inaugural cohort of Honors College faculty.
