UMD Will Require Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Specific Users

Beginning December 4, 2017, UMD will require faculty, certain GAs, and campus leaders to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) in order to log in to most campus systems.  MFA enhances usual login/password credentialing by requiring something you have in your possession in addition to something you know.  An example of something you have would be a device with an app installed which can receive a time-based unique passcode, as opposed to something you know – such as your login/password combination - which can be compromised.

An announcement of this change is scheduled to be sent out from DIT on October 2.  That should include more detailed information, but you can find out many answers from the DIT FAQ at:
