Branden Elmore, associate research professor (CHSE), received the 2023 NASPA NOW Professional Award for demonstrating a spirit of curiosity that has led to more engaging programs for students.
 

Drew S. Fagan, associate clinical professor of applied linguistics and language education (TLPL), received the 2023 Distinguished Alumni-Early Career Award from Teachers College, Columbia University, in recognition of his work with multilingual learners, their educators and policymakers.

 

Jioni Lewis, associate professor in the counseling psychology program (CHSE), was named an American Psychological Association fellow for her significant contributions to the field of psychology.

 

Jing Liu, assistant professor of education policy (TLPL), was one of six innovators to win the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Future of Data in K-12 Education Design Challenge. He proposed a new way to measure schools’ performance in reducing student absenteeism.

 

Colleen O’Neal, associate professor of school psychology (CHSE), received a Fulbright Scholar Award to conduct research in Malaysia on secondary school refugee students’ education, sense of agency and advocacy.

 

Rachel Romeo, assistant professor of human development (HDQM), received the university's Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Faculty Mentor of the Year Award for her outstanding achievement in mentoring students, and the Early Career Contributions in Research Award from the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association.

 

Kenneth H. Rubin, professor of human development (HDQM), was honored with the American Psychological Association’s Award for Distinguished Contributions to Developmental Psychology.

 

Ebony Terrell Shockley, clinical professor and associate dean for undergraduate studies and educator preparation (TLPL), was elected to serve as a council member of the American Educational Research Association Middle-Level Education Research Special Interest Group. She was also appointed by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore to serve on the Professional Standards and Teacher Education Board for three years.

 

Laura Stapleton, professor of Quantitative Methodology and chair of the Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology (HDQM), was elected president of the Society of Multivariate Experimental Psychology.

 

Margaret Walker, associate clinical professor of art education (TLPL) , received the 2023 Eastern Region Higher Education Art Educator Award from the National Art Education Association.
