COE researchers publish second edition of popular quantitative methods book

A book titled Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences

COE researchers Gregory Hancock and Laura Stapleton have published a second edition of The Reviewer’s Guide to Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences. The book, which was also co-edited by colleague Ralph Mueller of Purdue University Northwest, serves as a resource for reviewers evaluating manuscripts and grant proposals.

Like the first edition, the new book includes chapters that each focus on a particular quantitative method or topic. The chapters have been updated, and expand on using quantitative methods in practice. Additionally, five new chapters have been included in the book covering topics including social network models and Monte Carlo simulation methods, among others.

“The first edition was extremely popular and well-received, resulting in much useful feedback in the nine years since the initial publication,” Dr. Hancock says. "We hope that this second edition will continue to set the standard for reviewers and researchers as they ensure that quantitative research in their fields is of the highest quality.”

Dr. Hancock and Dr. Stapleton are professors in the Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology.
