The teacher certification programs for elementary and secondary education are professional education programs. Our programs provide the appropriate content knowledge, teaching methods, and practicum experiences to qualify for teacher certification in the State of Maryland. All students regardless of entry status are required to meet certain academic and experiential benchmarks prior to enrolling in teaching methods courses and the yearlong internship. To monitor the successful completion of these benchmarks, all students are required to apply to the College of Education in order to enroll in the upper-level courses required for teacher certification.
