Mindful Educator Self-Care, Kathryn Byrnes
Kathryn Byrnes, Ph.D., spoke to the MRC community on August 23, 2016 about Mindful Educator Self Care. Mindful self-care is the capacity to attend to and accept one’s physical sensations, thoughts, and feelings with kindness. In this workshop, educators are engaged in the research of self-care, compassion vs empathy, and mindfulness in education; they practice strategies of focused attention, deep listening, and emotional awareness; and they discuss obstacles to mindful self-care. Workshop participants gain an understanding of the theory, research and practice of mindful self-care for educators.
