Herald-Mail Media: Final "Exam" Week Could Be Called Final "Project" Week

Gregory R. Hancock

Final exams could soon be replaced by final projects, according to a recent article published by Herald-Mail Media. College of Education Professor Gregory R. Hancock said that this is not necessarily a good or bad thing.

“Final projects should be chosen because they are appropriate, not because of a discomfort with final examinations,” Dr. Hancock told Herald-Mail Media. “They have no more inherent ‘authenticity’ than final exams if such exams represent what is expected of the student.”

Dr. Hancock is a professor in the Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology and the director of the measurement, statistics and evaluation program. His research interests focus on structural equation models, latent growth models, and latent variable experimental design and analysis.
