After a career with the USDA Forest Service, MCERT student Rachel Bayer decided to pursue a new path—teaching. In an interview with CTV News, she discusses the transition from government work to the classroom, what motivated the career change, and the importance of educators in our society.
“Teaching is one of the most rewarding, necessary and vital careers that someone can pursue,” says Bayer. “I don’t think there’s any higher calling that anybody can have. ... I would encourage anyone that wants to do good in the world to become a teacher.”
Bayer’s journey highlights how skills gained in public service can translate into meaningful impact in schools.
