UMD Surprises Teachers for Being Awesome on Teacher Appreciation Week

WTOP News spotlights the University of Maryland College of Education efforts to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. Several members of the college surprised alumni teachers across the area to recognize their impact in the classroom. At Templeton Elementary School, English language development teacher Elizabeth Pandya ’14, MPP ’16, M.Ed. ’21 was met with cheers from colleagues, students and a special visit from UMD mascot, Testudo, before receiving a $1,000 award in recognition of her work.

“Our hearts were touched by the ways that you show up for your students and allow them to be their true and whole selves,” said Dean Kimberly Griffin.
