State Boards Approve Additional Metrics to Improve Student Achievement

The Maryland State Board of Education and the Accountability and Implementation Board approved additional performance metrics to track progress under the state’s Blueprint for Maryland’s Future education reform plan. The new benchmarks place greater emphasis on both kindergarten readiness and college and career readiness by the end of the 10th grade.

In a Maryland Matters article, Visiting Professor and State School Board Member Peggy Carr discusses her recommendation that the board review standards from the International Society for Technology in Education. “These are global standards, and a lot of our competitors globally reference these standards. If you’re not planning to investigate or explore international technology standards, it would be good to think about,” she said.
