Student Affairs Admission Criteria

The deadline for applying to the Student Affairs Concentration for Fall 2018 admission is December 4, 2018. 

To be considered for admission to the Department of Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education at the University of Maryland, each applicant must submit an application and supplemental materials directly to the Graduate School by selecting the appropriate code: Student Affairs: HISA  We are part of the Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy (HESI) program. Please see the "How to Apply" section for details and deadlines.

In addition to the other supplemental materials requested as part of the application (three letters of recommendation - at least two should be from former professors or instructors, statement of goals/experiences, GRE scores, etc.), please upload your resume. A writing sample is not required.

    Financial Aid

    The College of Education offers a limited number of scholarship and financial assistance opportunities. The university Financial Aid office also has information that may be helpful.

    Fellowships

    A limited number of fellowships are awarded to newly admitted doctoral students. Students will be informed of their selection; there is no separate application.  As students approach the dissertation phase, they may wish to pursue dissertation fellowship opportunities via the university or private foundations (e.g., Ford Foundation, Spencer Foundation).
