How will I know if I am graduating with honors?

Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude are the commencement honors for excellence in scholarship (graduation honors apply only to students in the undergraduate program). To be eligible for this recognition, at least 60 semester hours must be earned at UMD. No student with a grade point average less than 3.3 will be considered for a commencement honor. Because grades for a term generally are officially recorded after the term’s graduation day, computation of the student’s GPA will not include grades for courses taken during the student’s final semester at the University. However, the hours taken during that semester will apply toward the 60 credit requirement. Visit the UMD Office of the Registrar website for more information.

Exit Surveys for Graduating Students

Each year, the College of Education surveys graduating students to determine how education programs can be improved. Your participation in the survey is important to the College as it enables us to evaluate our strengths and weaknesses. More importantly, this survey gives you the opportunity to assess your professional competence and to evaluate the University of Maryland's performance in preparing for this important endeavor.

If you are a student graduating from a College of Education program this semester, you will be receiving an email notification asking you to complete an exit survey. Please review your email for information and instructions indicating how to access the password-protected surveys. If you have any questions regarding the exit survey, please contact Chris Cooks.
