How do children’s cognitive, social, emotional, linguistic, moral and neurophysiological skills develop?

When does prejudice emerge in childhood and how can adults address it?

The Human Development and Research focus area seeks to answer these questions and more. We are dedicated to advancing the understanding of how individuals grow and learn throughout their lives, from infancy through adulthood. As one of the world’s leading centers for research in child and adolescent development and educational psychology, this focus area addresses critical questions about human development, learning processes, and the sociocultural factors that influence them.

With a strong emphasis on equity, inclusion and excellence, you will learn about and engage in transformative research that informs educational practices and policies, making a real-world impact in classrooms, communities and families.
