The Curriculum and Instruction - Teacher Leadership Emphasis: Arts Integration Specialization, Master of Education (M.Ed.) program of study is designed for classroom teachers and arts teachers alike who are interested in integrating two or more areas of study to enrich learning opportunities for their students, while facilitating development of critical and creative thinking skills. Our program encourages teachers to apply the latest research in creative thinking and active learning to their teaching through experiential engagement in arts forms, practice in designing and implementing lessons/curriculum in clinical settings, and study of arts integration theory.

Teacher Leadership Emphasis
Teacher Leadership Emphasis supports already certified beginning teachers and experienced educators in developing a sound common grounding in aspects of teaching and inquiry. The program emphasizes advanced professional development studies, which supports experienced teachers as accomplished professionals and instructional leaders.
- Demonstrate proficiency in designing and implementing arts-integrated curriculum and lessons.
- Apply arts integration theory to enhance student engagement and academic achievement.
- Utilize research-based practices to assess and evaluate the impact of arts integration on student learning.

This program requires students to complete a minimum of 15 credits of Core and 15 credits of Arts Integration Courses for a minimum of 30 credit hours. In addition, students must demonstrate satisfactory performance on a professional portfolio and a seminar paper reflecting inquiry and research abilities.
