Dr. Cabrera is an emeritus professor at the University of Maryland and a Scholar-in-Residence at the Center for Postsecondary Readiness & Success at American University. Dr. Cabrera’s research interests encompass college choice, the impact of higher education on students, classroom experiences, minority issues in higher education, and civic engagement among college students. Dr. Cabrera has served on the editorial boards of leading journals in Higher Education. He is an AERA fellow and recipient of several awards including two Fulbright awards. Dr. Cabrera has provided advisory and consulting services to universities in the USA, Brazil, Mexico, and Chile, as well as to non-profit organizations such as the College Board, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
