In just 24 hours, the College of Education raised over $388,093 to benefit its students, academic programs and research. With participation from 246 donors contributing 270 gifts, the college saw a 29% increase in total funds raised compared to last year.
“Giving Day is a chance for us to come together and make a tangible difference in the EdTerps community” said Dean Kimberly Griffin. “The funds raised ensure that we can continue offering scholarships to students and expand resources that promote well-being, enriching learning experiences and impactful partnerships that benefit our students and society.”
Throughout the day, donors gave money to support several critical funds for the college. The Greatest Needs Fund, which ensures that the college can address challenges and urgent situations, such as providing funds to close the gap for an innovative research project or supporting students facing sudden hardships, received $86,000. Additionally, contributions to the Undergraduate Scholarship Fund ($3,000), Graduate Fellowship Fund ($1,455) and Elaine Johnson Coates ‘59 Scholarship ($9,565) helps provide financial support to current and future students.
For the fourth year in a row, the college won the Giving Day Power Hour: Most Faculty & Staff Donors. More than 90 donors raised $225,848 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The College of Education earned an additional $1,000 and will keep the coveted Testudo trophy. The pirzes didn't stop there. They also earned $1,000 for winning the Giving Power Hour: Most Student Donors.
“Giving Day is a powerful tool for growing our donor base and for engaging our alumni and students, as well as faculty and staff. As a smaller college, I think it's a testament to the passion and commitment of the entire EdTerps community that we’re able to place in the top five of all participating units across campus,” said Aaron Bobik, director of development.
Altogether, EdTerps and friends from 23 states and two countries worldwide united to support the College of Education and its commitment to transforming education for good.
