Inside Higher Education: Sharon Fries-Britt, Adrianna Kezar, and Lorelle Espinosa’s Op-ed on Campuses’ Response to Racial Crisis
In the last issue of Inside Higher Education, Drs. Lorelle Espinosa, Sharon Fries-Britt and Adrianna Kezar address the impact of the racial crisis for campuses moving forward. In the op-ed, “Are Campus Leaders Prepared for the Impact of the Racial Crisis?” the authors tackle the effects that decades of white supremacy have had around the nation and specifically on campuses of higher education.
“The question we pose to institutional leaders is: How are you preparing yourself and your senior team, personally and professionally, for the coming months in terms of supporting communities of color and confronting antiblackness?”
According to Drs. Espinosa, Fries-Britt and Kezar, all part of the Department of Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education, many colleges have not meaningfully addressed their own histories of exclusion and must work harder to engage in racial healing.
