We invite you to a book launch talk: "Daoist Cultivation of Qi and Virtues for Life, Wisdom, and Learning" by Drs. Tom Culham and Jing Lin. This book explores the Daoist philosophy of qi and virtue and inquires into the nature of qi and virtue as a technology for cultivating for the good of individuals and society. The first part of the book by Jing Lin deeply explores Daoist cosmology, axiology, and epistemology, and it illuminates how qi cultivation relies on the accumulation of virtues, leading to transformation of the body and extraordinary abilities of Daoist masters who transcend physical limitations and achieve health, longevity, and even immortality. The second part of the book by Tom Culham elaborates an understanding of qi and virtue as a technology in the Daoist paradigm, and the benefits of its cultivation while elaborating on how contemporary western philosophy and science supports such a paradigm. Both authors explore new forms of education to incorporate Daoist wisdom in education in the contemporary world.
