Maha Shoaib

Maha is a Fulbright Scholar and a doctoral student in International Education Policy at the University of Maryland. She is also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) National Leadership Honor Society. She completed her BSc. in Economics and has professional experience across education, research, inclusion, and international development.

Her doctoral research focuses on AI and EdTech, educational equity, and global development, with a particular interest in how digital transformation can expand opportunity rather than reproduce existing inequalities. Coming from Pakistan, She is especially interested in bringing Global South perspectives into conversations about AI in education, including questions of gender, disability, socioeconomic inequality, language, and access. She also serves as the Secretary for the EdTech and AI in International Development and Education student organization.

Her experience spans serving as a teaching fellow in Pakistan, international education advocacy with the Global Campaign for Education-US (GCE-US), inclusive education research with Special Olympics Global Center for Inclusion in Education, and research on contemplative and holistic approaches to education. These experiences continue to shape her interest in technology that supports not only learning, but also agency, belonging, wellbeing, and human flourishing. 
 

She has also held student affairs and community-building roles at the University of Maryland, including Graduate Assistant Bias Incident and Support Services in the Office of Belonging and Community and currently serving as a Community Coordinator with the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

She is interested in connecting with researchers, educators, policymakers, development practitioners, and Ed-tech innovators working toward more equitable, inclusive, and human-centered futures for education.
