Critical Literacy, Teacher Education, Secondary Literacy Education, Equitable Literacy Practices

Olivia is a doctoral candidate interested in secondary literacy and teacher education with a focus on critical and social justice applications. Her current research projects include examining the social justice mindsets and pedagogical development of pre-service ELA teachers, and examining secondary literacy pedagogy through a social justice lens. She is also working on a variety of side projects centered around teacher education, and the pre-service preparation of social-justice minded secondary ELA teachers. Olivia was previously a high school literacy teacher who taught 9-12th grade and also served as a lead teacher and teacher mentor at her school in Brooklyn, NY.
