At the College of Education, we pride ourselves on innovative research that often includes collaborations with other experts from across the country. This website, created by researchers at the University of Chicago with funding from the National Science Foundation, also includes significant contributions from Dr. Kelly Mix of the College of Education. Featured Faculty

Dr. Kelly Mix
Dr. Kelly Mix is a professor and the Department Chair of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology in the College of Education. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Chicago in 1995 and has held faculty positions in the Department of Psychology at Indiana University and the College of Education at Michigan State University.  She has received research funding from the Institute of Education Sciences, the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the Spencer Foundation.  Her research is focused on the development of number concepts and mathematical reasoning, with a particular interest in the use of cognitive science principles to improve children's learning.

Dr. Susan Levine of the University of Chicago received her B.A. with honors from Simmons College in 1972, majoring in Psychology, Mathematics and Education and her Ph.D. in Psychology from M.I.T. in 1976. She joined the faculty at the University of Chicago that year. Professor Levine is the director of the UChicago Science of Learning Center.
